The summer so far: The Premier League
The summer can be a frustrating time for football fans. We squint at the rolling news bars and RSS feeds on our computers, searching out any mention of our club and their latest rumoured transfer targets. Often with incredulity we are faced with departures of players we’d quite like to keep, approaches for journeymen we wouldn’t want to touch with a barge pole and the grumblings of our managers about value, experience, technique etc. We try desperately to console the empty hole in our lives by watching International football tournaments. They often disappoint.
In this series, we will be taking a look at each Premier League club’s summer so far, from the perspective of these frustrated fans. We’ll be looking at their hopes for and reactions to transfers, their expectations for the coming season, and gauging the joy, loathing and fear supporters are feeling.
